The Casa Museo Pinazo is located in Godella, a small town northwest of Valencia, easily accessible by local roads or public transport—preferably the metro.
The Casa Museo is situated in the historic centre of Godella. It is located at 31 Pintor Pinazo Street and is a small, single-story building painted white.
Access from València by public transport is via Metrovalencia Line 1. The nearest station is Burjassot-Godella, a five-minute walk from the Casa Museo. Visitors arriving in Valencia by train are advised to use the metro; the journey between Jesús station, near the AVE high-speed train station, and Burjassot-Godella station takes less than 15 minutes. From the Estación del Norte (North Station), you can reach the museum by taking metro lines 5 or 9 to the nearby Xàtiva station, and transferring to line 1 at the Ángel Guimerá station. For access by car, it is recommended to use the CV-35 and take exit 5, CV-31. However, parking is difficult in the vicinity of Calle Pintor Pinazo.
For access by bicycle, there is a bike path that connects the city of Valencia with the neighboring municipality of Burjassot to Calle Valencia, 38. The final 2 km stretch must be completed within the city limits. The Casa Museo has parking for four bicycles.
Exploring various places in Godella, such as the Hermitage, the Molino park, and the church of San Bartomeu, will allow you to enjoy the paintings of Ignacio Pinazo even more. Godella offers a wide variety of restaurants to complement your visit.

The visits include the following:
- Tours are conducted in groups of up to 15 people.
- They are always guided.
- They last approximately 90 minutes, although this can be reduced to one hour depending on visitor availability.
- The schedule is flexible. Due to its nature, the Casa Museo does not have fixed opening hours. However, preferred visiting times are specified on the Contact and Visits tab of this website.
- The cost is €7 per person, with a minimum of €28 per visit. See the Contact and Visits – Schedules and Rates tab for more details.
- The tour is not currently accessible, although we are working to improve accessibility. In any case, please let us know your needs, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
- Due to the conditions of the Casa Museo, pets are not allowed.
Yes, photography is permitted without flash. Occasionally, there may be artworks that cannot be photographed; these will be clearly labeled. Tripods, video equipment, and selfie sticks are not permitted in the galleries. Furthermore, out of consideration for other visitors, we would appreciate it if you would take your photographs and videos discreetly.
The Casa Museo Pinazo does not have a shop. If you wish to purchase any publications about Pinazo Camarlench, you should contact the Llibreria LLIG bookstore of the Valencian Government (www.llig.gva.es) or the IVAM shop (www.tienda.ivam.es).

The Casa Museo Pinazo houses works by Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench (1849-1916) and his sons José Pinazo Martínez (1879-1933) and Ignacio Pinazo Martínez (1883-1970). All the works on display are originals.
Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench was a self-taught painter whose works, in addition to those in the Casa Museo Pinazo, are held in the Museo del Prado, the IVAM (Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno), the Museo de Bellas Artes, and the Museo de Cerámica y Artes Suntuarias de València, as well as in other museums, institutions, and foundations. Pinazo received numerous awards for his work, but his artistic concerns and his drive to evolve painting materialized in the many works exhibited at the Casa Museo Pinazo: portraits, landscapes, seascapes, and more. The museum also houses a large collection of drawings and sketchbooks, his writings classified by the painter himself as “Notes and Thoughts,” his photographic collection, his documentary archive, and his small library. In short, Ignacio Pinazo’s legacy allows us to study and understand the changes that Spanish painting underwent from 1775 to 1915, as well as the social changes that Valencian society faced during that period.
José Pinazo Martínez was an important and renowned painter who developed his professional career primarily in Madrid and participated in numerous solo and group international exhibitions in Europe and the United States. His works are held in the Museo del Prado, the Museo de Bellas Artes, and the Museo de Cerámica y Artes Suntuarias de València, as well as in other museums and foundations. The works housed in the Casa Museo Pinazo correspond to his formative period.
Ignacio Pinazo Martínez was an important realist sculptor who developed his professional career throughout the 20th century. He was also an eminent drawing teacher and curator of international exhibitions in the 1920s, residing and maintaining his professional studio in Godella, Albacete, and Madrid. He furthered his training in València, Madrid, Rome, and Paris. For a time, he dedicated himself to music and performed as a tenor, singing in both Spain and Latin America. In València, both the Museo de Bellas Artes and the Museo de Cerámica y Artes Suntuarias hold works by him; his reproduction of the Dama of Elche, made at the Musée du Louvre in 1908, is present in numerous Spanish and international museums. The works by the sculptor Ignacio Pinazo Martínez held at the Casa Museo Pinazo showcase the diverse facets of his professional activity: portraits, secular sculptures and religious imagery, as well as numerous drawings, studies, and photographs, both professional and personal. His documentary archive and library are also housed there. In the realm of public spaces, Pinazo Martínez created, among other works, the monuments to his father, Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench, both in Godella (Cr. Major) and in Valencia (Plaza de la Porta de la Mar), and the image of Sant Vicent de la Roda on the Puente del Real in València.
While Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench can be considered the founder of the house when he acquired the property in 1887 and built the studio, it was Ignacio Pinazo Martínez who established the Casa Museo and was firmly committed to its preservation.

From humble beginnings, Pinazo Camarlench, with unwavering determination, undertook an intense renewal of painting characterized by the systematic use of various formal resources that reveal profound conceptual shifts:
- He favoured small formats, contrasting them with the large, academic, and decorative formats.
- He frequently employed the technique of leaving paint unpainted on the support—canvas or wood—introducing the concept of matter into his artistic expression.
- He sought beauty in the process, not in the finished and idealised work, and thus completed his paintings only when he had achieved the expression he sought. From this emerged a highly personal poetics of “the unfinished,” which imbued his paintings and drawings with unusual power.
- He established his poetic and artistic credo in writing and participated, through his Notes and Thoughts, in the social, economic, and artistic debates of his time. At times, he proposes impossible representations, extracting forms and colors from figurative art, applying chromatic ranges independent of what is depicted… to a certain extent, he almost anticipates a theory of chaos.
- He uses photographic techniques—focus/defocus, depth of field, framing, off-screen space—to characterise and subjectify his landscapes, thereby compelling the viewer to reinterpret his artistic proposals.
- He is the first Valencian painter to represent beaches as a social space.
- Likewise, he actively represents society, as part of daily life, and he does so from within that society, without stereotypical artifice.
- He champions naturalism, basing his work on the profound observation of reality and nature, thus transcending genre painting.
- He portrays his subjects without concessions.
- And he does all this from his home in Godella, fully aware of his renunciation of social success and better living conditions, while, of course, maintaining his connection to Valencian society.
From these principles we must analyse the relationships that Pinazo established with his contemporary painters, as well as the influences he developed on painters of subsequent generations.
The Casa Museo Pinazo is important because:
- It allows us to see how painters and sculptors lived and worked a hundred years ago.
- It allows us to imagine what the farmhouses of the villages in the Valencian countryside were like.
- It allows us to understand what characterises the microcosm of a home and how it can be transformed into the imaginative world of a painter from the beginnings of Modern Art.
- It allows us to understand how creativity and austerity can go hand in hand.
The Casa Museo Pinazo was established as a foundation with the primary purpose of preserving the house as a memorial to Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench, his artist sons José and Ignacio, and their entire historical and artistic legacy. It adopted the foundation structure because it is the legal entity best suited to this set of objectives.
The idea of a cultural institution was already present in the first will of Ignacio Pinazo Martínez, the youngest son of the painter Pinazo Camarlench, written in 1924. It was consolidated as a family institution after Pinazo Martínez’s death in 1970, adopting the name Casa Museo Pinazo. The Foundation was formally established in 2023.
Its board of trustees is primarily composed of family members, including all the descendants of Ignacio Pinazo Martínez, along with three non-family trustees who represent connections in the scientific field, the realm of relationships and affiliation, and the social and familial sphere.

First, you can help the Casa Museo Pinazo by visiting it, learning about its contents, and sharing the values you appreciate with your friends. This contributes to its awareness and promotion.
Furthermore, if you wish to contribute to its preservation, you can become a Friend of the Casa Museo Pinazo with a minimum contribution of €50, renewable annually. This contribution, which is earmarked for the conservation of the Casa Museo and its assets, as well as for research and dissemination of information about the three artists, enjoys the tax benefits recognized under Law 49/2002 of December 23, on the Tax Regime of Non-Profit Entities and Tax Incentives for Patronage, with the increases updated following the entry into force of Royal Decree-Law 6/2023 of December 19. For donations up to €250, the deduction is 80% of the amount donated; for the remainder, it is 40%. The law rewards loyalty – provided donations of the same or greater amount have been made to the same institution in the two immediately preceding tax years- by applying a 45% deduction (instead of the general 40%). The deduction is capped at 10% of the taxable income for Personal Income Tax (IRPF) purposes.
The Casa Museo Pinazo House complements this tax benefit with two free annual visits, the sponsorship of a drawing, and a letter of recognition for the status of Friend.
The Casa Museo Pinazo also offers the status of Partner Organisation for institutions or individuals who make contributions of €250 or more. For individual collaborators, the deduction regime is the same as for Friends. For institutional collaborators, the deduction regime is 40% on Corporation Tax, with an additional 10% loyalty bonus from the second year onwards, provided the donation amount is maintained. The deduction is capped at 15% of the taxable base for Corporation Tax purposes.
In addition to the tax benefits established by law, the Casa Museo Pinazo will link these contributions to specific projects, publicize the collaboration on the Foundation’s website for at least five years, and establish a specific visitation schedule for the collaborator.

The Casa Museo Pinazo is extremely interested in collecting works by the Pinazo artists, as well as all documentation that helps contextualise their artistic development and their lives. We understand that protecting and understanding a historical and artistic legacy involves not only preserving the works themselves, but also knowing and understanding the context and the decisions that influenced or determined them. The same applies to the newspaper and bibliographic heritage related to the Pinazo family.

The Foundation is currently applying for grants to digitise and catalogue the Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench and Ignacio Pinazo Martínez collections from the documentary archive, as well as the Notes and Thoughts of Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench. The Foundation has collaborated with students from Valencian public universities who have approached us to carry out various research projects. While we do not have a scholarship programme, please contact us if you are interested.
The Casa Museo Pinazo has a painting conservator who is responsible for the conservation and restoration of the entire painting collection. We have also engaged sculpture and drawing conservators when necessary.
Furthermore, from an inventory and cataloging perspective, the collections of the various artists are at different stages. The entire Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench collection is inventoried and included in the General Inventory of Movable Assets of the Ministry of Culture and in the General Inventory of Valencian Cultural Heritage – Section 3: Movable Assets of Heritage Significance. Completing this inventory remains a pending task.
The documentary holdings of the Casa Museo Pinazo are partially housed and cataloged.
Finally, the house requires maintenance work to improve its sustainability.
Due to the specific conditions of the Casa Museo Pinazo, open access to the documentary collections is not currently available. We are working on organising a digital repository, but this will require significant time and effort.

Furthermore, the Casa Museo Pinazo collaborates with the Historical Heritage Group of the National Police Unit assigned to the Valencian Community in monitoring works sold at public auctions or online to guarantee the artists’ artistic reputation and to prevent potential deception or fraud against third parties.
