Exhibitions

The IVAM promotes the exhibition Pinazo: Identidades (Pinazo: Identities), curated by Vicent Pla Vives. The catalogue includes texts by Sonia Martínez Navarro and Vicent Pla Vives. 

Under the direction of Nuria Enguita, the IVAM promotes the exhibition Pinazo en el espacio público (Pinazo in the Public Space), curated by Vicent Pla Vives. The texts are written by Nuria Enguita and Vicent Pla Vives.  

The exhibition El desnudo en Ignacio Pinazo (The Nude in Ignacio Pinazo), created in 2016, travels in 2017 firstly to the Museo de Bellas Artes de Castellón and secondly to the Museo de Arte de Almería. The exhibition catalogue includes the essay by Pérez Rojas entitled El desnudo en la obra de Ignacio Pinazo (The Nude in the Work of Ignacio Pinazo).

On the occasion of the Commemoration of the Centenary of the death of Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench, six simultaneous exhibitions are held in the city of Valencia, five of them curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas: 

• MuVIM, Pinazo: del ocaso de los grandes maestros a la Juventud Artística Valenciana (Pinazo: from the Twilight of the Great Masters to the Valencian Artistic Youth). The catalogue includes presentations by Rafael Company and Amador Griñó and articles by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, Aida Pons Moreno, Luis R. Mestre Badosa, Andrés Jiménez Molero, Alejandro Villar Torres, Jaume Penaba Alarcón and Helena de las Heras Esteban.
• IVAM, Ignacio Pinazo y las vanguardias. Afinidades Electivas (Ignacio Pinazo and the Avant-Gardes. Elective Affinities). Subsequently, in 2021, Pérez Rojas publishes Pinazo y las vanguardias (Pinazo and the Avant-Gardes), an essay in which he expands on the content of the exhibition..
• Museo de Bellas Artes de València and Fundació Bancaixa, Pinazo: historia y retrato. De la tradición al modernismo (Pinazo: History and Portrait. From Tradition to Modernism). José Ignacio Casar Pinazo acts as co-curator.
• El Almudín, Valencia City Council. El desnudo en Ignacio Pinazo (The Nude in Ignacio Pinazo).

The sixth exhibition is organised by the Museo Nacional de Cerámica y Artes Suntuarias, (Re) descubrir Pinazo. Un autor y su sala en el Museo Nacional de Cerámica ((Re) Discovering Pinazo. An Artist and his Gallery at the Museo Nacional de Cerámica), curated by M.J. Badenas Población, L. Cuesta Davignon, P.C. Garrido Barba and T. Ribelles Cebrián. The texts are written by Jaume Coll Conesa, Liliane Cuesta Davignon, Pilar Casilda Garrido Barba, María José Badenas Población, Teresa Ribelles Cebrián and Xavier Gay Quinzá.

In the framework of the commemoration of the Centenary of the death of Pinazo Camarlench, the exhibition Un segle de modernitat a través de la moda (A Century of Modernity through Fashion) is also held at the Sala d’Exposicions Municipal – Casino Lliberal de Algemesí, curated by Àlex Villar and Mar Moya. The texts are written by Marta Trenzano Rubio, Pere Blanco Vega and Àlex Villar.

Promoted by the Presidencia de la Generalitat Valenciana, the exhibition Fragmentos de identidad (Fragments of Identity) is held at the Palacio de la Generalitat, centered around the work Últimos momentos del Rey Don Jaime entregando la espada a su hijo don Pedro (Last Moments of King Jaime Handing his Sword to his Son Don Pedro).

Promoted by the Consorcio de Museos de la Comunidad Valenciana, the exhibition Pinazo in the IVAM Collection, curated by Aida Pons Moreno, is being held at the Museo de Bellas Artes Gravina in Alicante and the Museo de Bellas Artes in Castellón. The catalogue includes introductions by Alberto Fabra, María José Catalá, Luisa Pastor Lillo, and Javier Moliner Delgado. The texts are written by Tomás Llorens, Carmen Gracia, José Luis Alcaide Delgado, Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, Aida Pons Moreno, and Alicia Izquierdo.

The Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM) presents the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo. Maestro del dibujo (Ignacio Pinazo. Master of Drawing), curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas and Aida Pons Moreno. The exhibition brings together 151 pieces from the Cuadernos de Italia 1 and 2 (Italian Notebooks 1 and 2), mainly produced between 1873 and 1880. The catalogue includes the presentation by María José Catalá and texts by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas and Aida Pons Moreno.

The Godella Town Council promotes the exhibition La línea maestra – Dibujos Pinazo/Alfaro (The Master Line – Pinazo/Alfaro Drawings), curated by Artur Heras, author of the catalogue text, with the presentation by Salvador Soler. 

The Casa Museo Pinazo reaches an agreement with the Faculty of Engineering of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) for the organisation of the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo. The exhibition is held at the Palacio de la Minería in Mexico City, curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas. The exhibition then travels to the Museo de Arte Moderno in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The catalogue presentations are by José Navarro Robles, Gonzalo Guerrero Zepeda and Consuelo Císcar Casabán. The texts are written by Elisa García-Barragán Martínez, Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas together with José Luis Alcaide Delgado and Aida Pons Moreno.

The Godella Town Council organises the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo. Centenario de la Medalla de Honor. Exposición de Bellas Artes 1912-2012 (Ignacio Pinazo. Centenary of the Medal of Honour. Fine Arts Exhibition 1912-2012), curated by Eva Teixidor Aranegui. 

Curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas and José Luis Alcaide Delgado, the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo. Colecciones en diálogo (Ignacio Pinazo. Collections in Dialogue) is held at the Museo de Bellas Artes de València, commemorating the centenary of the award of the Medal of Honour to Pinazo in 1912. The catalogue includes presentations by Lola Johnson, Consuelo Císcar Casabán and Paz Olmos Peris, and texts by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, José Luis Alcaide Delgado and Aida Pons Moreno.

The last in the series of exhibitions presenting the work of Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench organised by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas at the IVAM is Ignacio Pinazo. El humo del amor (Ignacio Pinazo. The Smoke of Love). The publication is presented by Consuelo Císcar Casabán and includes texts by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas and Aida Pons Moreno.

The IVAM presents the exhibition Pinazo y la acuarela (Pinazo and Watercolour), curated by Aida Pons Moreno. The catalogue includes the presentation by Consuelo Císcar Casabán and texts by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas and Aida Pons Moreno.

The exhibition Ignacio Pinazo en Italia (Ignacio Pinazo in Italy), held in València at the IVAM and subsequently at the Museo Hendrik Christian Andersen in Rome, is curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas. The publication is dedicated “To the memory of Esperanza Pinazo” and is published in Spanish and Italian editions. It includes presentations by directors Consuelo Císcar Casabán and Helena di Majo and texts by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, Flavia Mattiti, Andrés Jiménez, Aida Pons Moreno, Vicente García Edo, Franco Triletti, Carlos G. Navarro and Alessandro Sagramora.

The Centro Cultural Castel Ruiz in Tudela (Navarra) promotes the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo, curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, held at the Museo Muñoz Sola de Tudela. The catalogue is presented by Mercedes San Pedro López and the texts are by Manuel Motilva Albericio, Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, José Luis Alcaide Delgado, Aida Pons Moreno, Alejandro Villar Torres and Andrés Jiménez Molero.

The exhibition Pinazo. El Retrato Infantil (Pinazo. The Child Portrait) is presented at the IVAM, curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas. The catalogue includes texts by Consuelo Císcar Casabán, Begoña Enguix Grau, José Ignacio Casar Pinazo, Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, Andrés Jiménez, Aida Pons Moreno and Helena de las Heras.

The exhibition I. Pinazo. Els seus dibuixos al Museu de Belles Arts de València (I. Pinazo. His Drawings at the Museo de Bellas Artes de València) is held at the Museo de Bellas Artes de València, curated by Adela Espinós García. The catalogue includes presentations by Alejandro Font de Mora Turón and Joaquín Michavila Asensi and texts by Adela Espinós García, Asun Tena Arregui and José Ignacio Casar Pinazo.

The exhibition El paisaje marítimo (The Maritime Landscape) is held at the IVAM, curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas. The publication includes the presentation by Consuelo Císcar Casabán and texts by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas and José Luis Alcaide Delgado.

Promoted by the Fundación Mapfre and curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo. Los inicios de la pintura moderna (Ignacio Pinazo. The Origins of Modern Painting) is held in Madrid. From this exhibition onwards, Pérez Rojas, under the auspices of the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno, presents at the IVAM a series of monographic exhibitions centered on the figure of Pinazo Camarlench, seeking to study the painter from a kaleidoscopic perspective and to catalogue his work. The exhibition catalogue is presented by Juan Fernández-Layos Rubio and includes texts by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, José Luis Alcaide Delgado, Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench, Aida Pons Moreno and Joan Sanchis Cano.

Promoted by the Caja de Ahorros de Granada and curated by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo. Historias, estudios e impresiones (Ignacio Pinazo. History, Studies and Impressions) is held in Granada at the Centro Cultural CajaGranada-Puerta Real, and subsequently in València at the IVAM. The catalogue includes presentations by Antonio-Claret García García and Consuelo Císcar Casabán and texts by Francisco Javier Pérez Rojas, José Luis Díez, Estrella de Diego, Aida Pons Moreno and Joan Sanchis Cano.

Promoted by Bancaja, the exhibition La imagen del pensamiento: el paisaje en Ignacio Pinazo (The Image of Thought: Landscape in Ignacio Pinazo) is held in València. The curator is Carmen Gracia Beneyto, who also writes the catalogue text.

The IVAM organises the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo, presented at the Museo Nicanor Piñole in Gijón, the Museo Gustavo de Maeztu in Estella and the Museo del Paisaje Español Contemporáneo in Priego de Córdoba. It is curated by J. Ramón Escrivá. The catalogue includes presentations by Kosme de Barañano, Paz Fernández Felgueroso, María José Bozal Bozal and Tomás Delgado Toro. The text is written by J. Ramón Escrivá.

The Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia promotes the exhibition Los Pinazo. Cien años de expresión artística (The Pinazo Family. One Hundred Years of Artistic Expression), which included all three Pinazo artists, as well as Marisa Pinazo Mitjans, the youngest daughter of José, who, until her marriage, showed a brilliant early career as a painter. Curated by Felipe V. Garín Llombart, this exhibition prompted the start of the cataloguing of the works of the children of Pinazo Camarlench. From this exhibition onwards, a restoration program for the sculptural and graphic works of Ignacio Pinazo Martínez is initiated. The catalogue includes the presentation by Fernando Huet Fuentes and texts by Felipe V. Garín Llombart, Francisco Lozano, Carmen Gracia Beneyto, Francesc Fontbona, María Eugenia Ibáñez Guardiola, José Ignacio Casar Pinazo, María Luisa F. Longoria Pinazo and Francisco F. Longoria Pinazo.

The exhibition I. Pinazo, promoted by the Dirección General de Bellas Artes of the Ministerio de Cultura and curated by Felipe V. Garín Llombart, benefits from the scientific coordination of Carmen Gracia Beneyto and a working team that includes, alongside Garín and Gracia, Rosa María García Brage, Asun Tena Arregui and José Ignacio Casar Pinazo. It is held in Madrid (Salas de la Biblioteca Nacional) and in València (Museo de Bellas Artes). The catalogue includes the presentation by Javier Tusell Gómez and texts by Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench, Carmen Gracia Beneyto, José Ignacio Casar Pinazo and Felipe V. Garín Llombart. This exhibition marks the beginning of the restoration of the works of Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench by Asun Tena Arregui.

Within the framework of the initiative Un siglo de Arte Valenciano (A Century of Valencian Art), the Diputación de València organises the exhibition Ignacio Pinazo, curated by Arturo Zabala, who also writes the catalogue text.

The Círculo de Bellas Artes de Valencia organises a Tribute Exhibition to Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench, curated by Ignacio Pinazo Martínez. The catalogue includes an article by Eduardo L. Chavarri and contributions by Adolfo Cámara, José Guillot Carratalá, José Ombuena and F. Almela y Vives.

On the occasion of the commemoration of the birth of the painter, two exhibitions are organised, one in València and one in Madrid. The latter is organised by the Asociación de Escritores y Artistas Españoles and is entitled Conmemoración del primer centenario del nacimiento de Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench (Commemoration of the First Centenary of the Birth of Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench). The catalogue includes a text by José Francés.

In València, the centenary commemoration is entitled Pinazo and is organised by the Diputación de València. 

Curated by Ignacio Pinazo Martínez, the exhibition Pinazo is organised at the Salón Cano in Madrid. The catalogue includes a text by Gil Fillol, opinions expressed by Federico García Sanchiz and Bernardino de Pantorba, and recorded opinions by Jacinto Benavente (1912) and José Francés (1916).
